Description |
The

will develop the framework for an information system and explore how systems
that support the business functions of the organization are integrated and
aid the manager with decision-making responsibilities within the operational,
tactical, and strategic hierarchy of the company. Underlying
the examination of various organizational information systems will be an
exploration of emerging technologies that drive these systems. This course

Grading |
Case Studies - Each week, a written analysis and a discussion of one of the cases will be required. These cases appear at the end of each chapter and will be due as indicated in the "Weekly Assignment" schedule. Analyze the case information and respond to the "assignment" section at the end of the case. The written cases require 11/2 to 2 typewritten pages, single spaced, with 1 inch margins all around with the first third as an executive summary of the case and the other 2/3 containing your analysis of the case and answers to the case questions. Analyses should refer to relevant chapter material. News / Article Reviews - For each unit, you are responsible for identifying some recent, relevant current issue from an appropriate news source or journal article (dated in 2002 - 2004) that enhances any topic that was presented in the chapter material for that week.
You are to provide a 1-page written (typed, single-spaced) report. Your report should include three components: proper identification of the source, an executive summary of the information, and YOUR opinion/analysis regarding its relevance or significance. Individual
Presentations: Each student will be
required to present a specific case study from the previous weeks’
lesson. This presentation must be
designed around providing a synopsis of the case itself (including new
pertinent information related to the specific company and/or case and
answering the questions of the case study.
Each presentation should consist of presentation materials to the
class and should be approximately 10 minutes in length. A written case study is also required
during the week of this assignment on the presented case.
Examinations
– There will be two exams, equally weighted.
Exams will consist of multiple choice and short answer/essay. Course
